Think of a situation where the project manager changes half way through a project or a project sponsor change half way through a project. For smooth continuity of the project documenting the assumptions, constraints and the highlevel risks (part of the project charter) will help.

Sample assumptions

• It is assumed that skilled manpower is available on time
• It is assumed that the required signoffs are obtained on time
• It is assumed that the required clearances are available before the start of the project

Sample constraints

• The project will be completed within 6 months from the start date of the project
• The project will be completed within 60 person months of effort
• The project will use oly open source products

Sample high level risks

• The required manpower is not available on time
• New technology
• Changing requirements
