todolist # 16 Select an appropriate project management tool
Selection of an appropriate project management tool which suits;
1) Size of the team
2) Project's strategy (PDCA, PDSA, Distributed development etc)
3) Size of the project
4) Communication technology used
5) Metrics supported
6) Learning curve
7) Licence fee
It is of great importance. Very often we get into discussions revolving around Ms Project Vs Primavera. In real practise, very often I see teams starting with MS Project and Primavera during planning and early phases of execution and then moving on to task lists, excel sheets, yellow post-its etc. The tool should not become a heavy millstone on the project team's neck, preventing project velocity. Will continue with tools in the future.
